However, the grading scheme is less about academia and more about you doing your best to practice public speaking. This is an easy-A for most people, as long as you do your assignments and present when you are told.

2. Intro to a Foreign Language

Intro foreign languages classes are usually not too hard. They are meant for students to dip a toe in the language and learn some of the basic phrases and grammar. The more advanced the language class, the harder it gets. Beginner classes are usually pretty easy and can even be fun.

3. American Sign Language

American sign language, more commonly called ASL, is similar to a foreign language class. It is considered an easy class and is difficult to fail. Any intro to ASL classes are especially easy. You'll learn the most basic sign language, including:

Letters
Your name
Yes and no
Simple greetings
A few commonly used phrases

4. Personal Finance

Personal finance teaches financial literacy in the real world. You'll learn about things like:

Budgeting
Debt
Saving
Investing
Other personal finance-related topics

There's no difficult math in the course; it will cover topics you are already familiar with. This makes it a great easy-A class that will teach you some practical information. Plus, having a finance course looks good on your transcript, even if it's an easy one.

5. Communication

Introductory communications classes are considered easy. They mainly discuss the foundations of communication theory, which are not too difficult to understand. This includes topics on how people express themselves verbally or nonverbally and theories about communication at the personal, group, and intercultural levels.

6. Creative Writing

Creative writing is a fun class to take that doesn't require much academic learning. Your work consists of writing fiction stories and poetry. For the most part, your fiction writing is not graded too harshly. It's more about creative expression, which varies greatly amongst all people.

7. Journalism

An introductory journalism class is another writing class that is pretty simple and not too challenging. The writing may require a bit more research than creative writing, but this is often easier for people who don't have that creative spark. Plus, it could help you get out and meet people, as sometimes you'll have to do "student interviews."

8. Psychology

Introductory to Psychology is a class a lot of science majors use to boost their GPA. It is considered much easier than hard sciences and easier to get an A. However, some universities have psychology courses that are much more difficult. You should refer to someone who has taken psychology at your school to get their opinion before signing up.

9. Anthropology

Introductory anthropology classes will teach you about all the aspects of human differentiation, including biological, cultural, and linguistic. It's considered one of the easier courses to take in college. Although it includes scientific aspects, it is more thought-based and easier to grasp.

10. Astronomy

Learn everything there is to know about space by taking astronomy. This is usually a pretty cool class and not too difficult. For tests, you may be asked to memorize certain space facts. However, there isn't much complex science or math in this course. Instead, it's more theoretical.

11. Geography

Geography is a memory-centered course that requires you to know where things are located around the world. This is a pretty easy course for those that already have a grasp on where countries are. It doesn't require much learning and is simply memorizing where things are on a map.

If you're not great at memorizing things, though, this one may not be the one for you.

12. Art History

Art classes are some of the easiest college classes to take. If you aren't interested in doing any actual art, you may consider art history. You will learn about past art movements and famous artists who changed the landscape of art throughout the centuries. Art history is an easy class that is difficult to fail.

13. Acting

Acting is fun and dynamic. The only way to really fail this class is not to show up. And as long as you are trying your best, you probably won't even get a bad grade if you're a terrible actor.

You will get to put on class productions of plays and learn real acting skills used by professionals in the field.

14. Art: Painting, Photography, Pottery

If you enjoy creating things, consider signing up for an art class. There are many options ranging from painting and photography to pottery and more. Since art is so abstract and specific to the artist, it's very difficult to grade. Most professors will not grade your assignments harshly because of this. Art classes are only failable if you don't do the assignments.

15. Film

There are two kinds of film classes – those where you make films and those where you watch and analyze films. These are both easy-A classes, though making films is definitely a bit more work than watching them. Either way, these classes can be entertaining and are not too challenging.

16. Music

Introductory music classes teach you the very basics of a new instrument. Prior knowledge or skill is not expected, which makes these courses easy to score well. As long as you practice the instrument and make sure to learn the basics, you should do well. Many colleges offer half-credit options as well, so you can learn an instrument on top of your normal class load.

17. Graphic Design

Graphic design is like a digital art class. You will learn how to use the platforms that graphic designers use to make logos, pamphlets, and other digital products. This is a lot easier for many people than actual art classes because it does not require much artistic ability.

18. Other Unique Electives or Intro to Humanities Courses

Most colleges have their own unique electives that they offer to students. For example, there is one class at New York University entirely about Taylor Swift. The University of Alabama offers a class called "Special Topics: The Zombie Apocalypse in US Culture." These fun electives are always pretty easy to pass and will reflect well on your GPA.

How To Find Easy Classes To Take in College

One of the best ways to find easy college classes is to get information directly from your peers. Here are some platforms you can use to get further information:

Rate My Professor

A lot of the time, university classes are hard because the professors are demanding. Referring to Rate My Professor will help you figure out how challenging a certain professor is.

The site also allows students to discuss the workload, their grades, the professor's expectations, and how valuable the class was. This is one of the best ways to figure out what to expect for a particular course.

Tip: don't sign up for any classes that have a professor with a rating under 2. Chances are that class will not be much fun.

University Reddit Forum

Most universities have their own Reddit forum. You can post a question to your peers about potential classes in these forums. Ask them for their favorite easy-A classes or their favorite easy professors. Reddit is full of people that love to answer questions, and you can find a lot of great information there.

University Facebook Page

Most universities also usually have a Facebook page where students can discuss matters related to the school. Here, you can post a question to your fellow peers about their opinion on the easiest classes available at your university.

Just be sure you keep it clean and professional; you never know when a professor is going to pop on and see what people are saying about them.

Talking to Peers in Person

Lastly, you always have the option to talk to other students in person. Start a conversation in class or the cafeteria. You don't even necessarily have to go outside your circle to do this. Ask around with your friends or other people in your major. There is always someone that will be willing to offer advice.

Most Challenging College Classes

Some college classes are universally difficult. Avoid using any of these to boost your GPA and only take them if they are necessary for your major:

1. Hard Sciences: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Anatomy

The hard sciences are amongst the most failed college classes all across the United States. These are extremely difficult and require a lot of studying and work outside of class. Don't take these courses unless they are a requirement of your major or you really, really love the subject.

2. Mathematics: Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, Economics

Math is fun to some people but not to most. Unless you're a math whiz who loves the subject, I don't recommend taking math just to boost your GPA. These courses are very complex and require a lot of thinking. They are failed just as often as many of the hard sciences.

3. English Writing Classes

English writing classes usually require a lot of reading, writing, text analysis, and participation in class discussions. It's not an easy class and requires a lot of effort. If you enjoy reading and writing, it may be a good option. However, these classes aren't for those hoping just to coast by.

4. History Classes

History classes are difficult because they require an extraordinary amount of memorization. You'll have a lot of reading and writing and will also be tested on your memory of historical events. If you find memorizing names, dates, and events easy, this may be a good decision. However, on top of memorization, you will also be expected to perform historical analysis.

Other Ways to Boost Your GPA

These are some simple actions you can take that will help boost your grades in all your classes:

Attend Your Classes

The newfound freedom of college can make it extremely enticing to skip your classes. However, most professors take attendance into account when calculating your grade. This is especially true of smaller, more discussion-based classes.

Getting the points for attendance is easy – all you have to do is show up. Your professors will have more respect for you. Not to mention, if you're present for the lessons, you'll likely do much better on tests.

Speak in Class

Many professors also leave a bit of space in grading for participation. This can be very frustrating for students who don't like to speak in class. However, adding some words to the discussion is one of the easier ways to get those extra points.

Keep in mind, your additions don't need to be genius-level. Professors really only care to see that you are trying to get more involved in the class topics. Even just asking one question per class can make a difference!

Go to Office Hours

Universities are chock-full of classes with multitudes of students. Sometimes, if you don't make it a point to meet with the professor, then they will never even learn your name.

Going to office hours can be scary, but it's a great chance to befriend your professors. Most professors will host office hours at a specific time every week. You don't need a reason to go. In fact, a lot of the time, the professor will just chat with you about random subjects.

Other times, professors might require you to schedule office hours. This happens if a professor is very busy or has a lot of students. If this is the case, I recommend having a purpose for your visit. Ask them to clarify topics discussed in class or ask them for feedback on an essay or test.

Going to office hours will enable your professor to put a face to your name and get to know you better. These people are the final deciders of your grades – the more they like you, the better.
